Who depends on you?

Can you protect them? You devote a large portion of your life to caring and providing for those you love. What happens if you are injured, or get sick, or just can't be there when you are needed. Who will protect them when you can't? Picking the right person to act in your place may be the most important choice you can make. Making certain that they have enough power to carry out your wishes but not enough power to change your wishes may be crucial.

Are you prepared? If your spouse was incapacitated, would you know where to find all of your important papers? Would you be able to access all of your accounts and holdings without their signature? If something happened to both you and your spouse, who would take care of your children? How would they pay for their care? How would your bills get paid until you recover? What happens to your children if you don't recover? Who would decide the future of your children? Will your children be able to stay in their home? Go to the same school? Keep the same friends? Who will make those decisions?

How do you start? Call me today so we can discuss what kind of plan you want for your family. There is no 'one size fits all' solution to planning for the ones you love. Each family has unique needs and values they want to include in a personalized plan to protect what they have built together. When we are finished, you will be better prepared for anything that might come your way.

What is an estate plan?

An estate plan is about how you live, who you love, and how to be prepared for any unexpected emergency. It is a plan for living your life to the fullest, preparing for your children's future, getting ready for your retirement, taking care of yourself as you grow older, and leaving a legacy to those who follow you. An estate plan is not only for the wealthy. It is for anyone who shares their life with someone else. It is a roadmap for your future and the future of those you love. It assures you your voice will always be heard. It is the peace of mind that comes from being prepared.

How long does it take to make a plan? Most estate plans can be completed in less than 30 days. The first step is scheduling an interview with me. During the initial interview we ask questions. I ask questions about your family, your personal values, and your plans for the future. Your answers will help me to formulate a plan that will meet all of your needs and your budget. The next step is collecting information. You will complete a questionnaire that provides a complete picture of your family and their specific needs. Next, I will study your answers and begin to prepare a plan to accomplish all of your goals and minimize your tax exposure. When I have finished a draft plan, I will provide you with a copy to review and answer any additional questions that you may have. After any necessary revisions have been made, I will complete the finished plan and teach you how to use the plan.
